Dr. Leah Ellis, DVM

Dr. Leah Ellis was raised in Halifax County, Nova Scotia. She grew up loving animals and taking every opportunity to spend time in the barn. After completing her Bachelor of Science at Mount Allison University, she worked as a stable manager of a Belgian Warmblood breeding farm in Newport, Nova Scotia. Dr. Ellis received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in the spring of 2020. Her fourth year clinic case report on equine podiatry was accepted for publication in the Canadian Veterinary Journal the following August.

After falling in love with Cochrane during her final year externship, she accepted a position at Burwash Equine Services for a UCVM affiliated internship for the 2020-2021 year. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her four-legged friend, Violet, and working on her quilting projects.

After completing her internship with Burwash Equine, Dr. Ellis returned to the east coast to enter a Large Animal Medicine Residency at the Atlantic Veterinary College.
