Dr. Kineta Cousins grew up in rural Northern Ontario. She started riding at the age of 11, starting in the Hunter/Jumpers before finding her true passion for the sport of Eventing. Kineta attended the University of Guelph majoring in Animal Science and Agriculture before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College in the spring of 2023.

During her 8 years in Guelph she explored her love for large animals and medicine working on dairy farms, at an eventing stable, and with an equine veterinary practice focusing on sports medicine and reproduction. After a clinical rotation at Burwash Equine, Kineta knew that she wanted to come back out west to learn and join them for her internship.

Kineta’s special interests include reproduction, emergency medicine, and sports medicine; although there is not a facet of equine work that hasn’t sparked her interest yet! In her free time she can be found working with her OTTB Addie to get back into the world of eventing!
