Dr. Jessica Semper, DVM

Dr. Jessica Semper first discovered her passion for horses when her family moved to a rural area outside of Nanaimo, BC on Vancouver Island. After completing her Bachelor of Science majoring in biology at Vancouver Island University, she was accepted to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in June 2017 with great distinction. While at the WCVM, Jessica spent a summer working at Burwash Equine and is thrilled to be starting her veterinary career as an intern at the same practice that taught her so much as a student. She is excited and intrigued by the variety of challenges that come with general equine practice, but is particularly interested in neonatal foal care and management of horses involved in endurance sport. Outside of veterinary medicine, Jessica loves spending time with her horse Lyric doing anything from liberty work to 50 mile endurance rides. She also enjoys frequent epic trips with friends including multi-day horse pack trips in the mountains and most recently, hiking the West Coast Trail. Other passions include playing the violin, two-step dancing and sailing.
