Jean-Yin Tan, DVM, DACVIM
Dr. Jean-Yin Tan is a board-certified equine internal medicine specialist, equine acupuncturist, and faculty member at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. She is also certified in equine rescue. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Dr. Tan completed her pre-veterinary training at the University of Alberta and graduated from Cornell University with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2005. After completing an intensive internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey, she went on to complete a large animal internal medicine residency at the University of Minnesota in 2008 and a fellowship in equine ambulatory medicine at UC Davis in California. She began internal medicine consultancy work and worked in private practice in New Jersey prior to establishing and managing her own equine ambulatory and referral center in Upstate New York. In 2015, she returned to Alberta as an Instructor in Equine Clinical Sciences at the University of Calgary. Dr. Tan is board-certified in internal medicine and has advanced training in geriatric medicine, endocrinology, ultrasound, neurology, neonatal medicine, and respiratory, renal, hepatic, and gastrointestinal disease. She has a special interest in infectious disease and respiratory disease. Outside of work, Dr. Tan enjoys hiking with her 2 hound dogs and loves to take opportunities to travel internationally.
