Did you know that 100% of horses in Alberta do not qualify for Alberta Health Care?  At Burwash Equine, we have a portfolio of Wellness Plans that are designed to give you the peace of mind knowing that we have your horse’s health care covered.  Our Wellness Plans cater to horses of all ages and uses and include all of the horse health care services necessary to keep them happy, healthy, and free from illness.  Clients enrolled in a wellness plan also have the advantage of paying for these services with a low monthly fee, allowing them to spread the financial commitment throughout the year.  Please answer the few questions in the quiz below to find out which Wellness Plan is best suited for you and your horse.  Don’t leave your horse’s health care up to chance - enrol in a wellness plan today! 

Available Wellness Plans:

Mighty Comrade

This Pleasure Horse Plan groups the basic services that all horses should receive on an annual basis.

Services included in this plan are:

- 2 fecal egg counts (typically performed in spring and summer)
- an annual dental exam and powerfloat
- sheath cleaning (combined with exam or float)
- annual vaccinations (6-way or 3-way/West Nile + Flu/Rhino and Strangles) administered by a veterinarian

Golden Oldie

This Senior Horse Plan was devised to promote optimum health in our aged equine friends.

Services included in this plan are:
- an annual physical exam with body condition scoring
- a nutrition consultation (10 minute discussion)
- a dental exam and powerfloat
- annual sheath cleaning (combined with exam or powerfloat)
- 2 fecal egg counts (typically performed in spring and summer)
- annual vaccinations (6 way and Strangles)
- annual screening bloodwork
- annual testing for PPID (Cushings disease)
- unlimited in clinic quality of life exams

Bronze Olympian

This plan includes those basic services that an equine athlete requires to perform at his best.

Services included in this plan are:
- an annual dental exam and power floating
- annual sheath cleaning (combined with exam or powerfloat)
- 2 fecal egg counts (typically performed in spring and summer)
- annual performance horse vaccinations (3 way + West Nile Virus, Flu/Rhino, and Strangles)
- an annual soundness check as an aid in ensuring your horse is fit for competition and there are no underlying concerns

Silver Olympian

This plan includes an intermediate range of services for the equine athlete.

Services included in this plan are:
- an annual dental exam and power floating
- annual sheath cleaning (combined with exam or powerfloat)
- 2 fecal egg counts (typically performed in spring and summer)
- annual performance horse vaccinations (3 way + West Nile Virus, Flu/Rhino, and Strangles)
- six month Flu/Rhino vaccinations
- an annual soundness check as an aid in ensuring your horse is fit for competition and there are no underlying concerns
- intravenous hyaluronic acid (Legend) administered four times a year
 

Gold Olympian

This plan includes a premium range of services. It is our most comprehensive plan, and has been tailored to cater to the elite equine athlete.

Services included in this plan are:
- an annual dental exam and power floating
- annual sheath cleaning (combined with exam or powerfloat)
- 2 fecal egg counts (typically performed in spring and summer)
- annual performance horse vaccinations (3 way + West Nile Virus, Flu/Rhino, and Strangles)
- six month Flu/Rhino vaccinations
- an annual soundness check as an aid in ensuring your horse is fit for competition and there are no underlying concerns
- intravenous hyaluronic acid (Legend) administered four times a year
- an annual gastroscopy to monitor for evidence of gastric ulceration
- annual shoeing survey films of the front feet to aid the farrier

The Next Generation

This Mare & Foal Plan is a great option for those who are anxiously awaiting the next precious addition to their herd.

Services included in this plan:

- a full series of rhinopneumonitis vaccines for the pregnant mare
(at 5, 7, and 9 months of gestation)

- a pre-foaling examination of the mare including pre-foaling vaccinations
(3 way + West Nile Virus) and pre-foaling deworming

- an examination of the mare & foal post-partum (typically at 18-24 hours of age), including a SNAP test of the foal to ensure adequate passive transfer of immunity from the mare through her colostrum

- deworming the foal at 2, 4, 6, 7 and 10 months of age
- vaccinating the foal (3 way and flu/rhino) at 6 and 7 months of age
