Dr. Crystal Lee,
DVM, DACVS

Dr. Crystal Lee grew up east of Edmonton on an acreage in the Ardrossan area, and was very involved for many years in driving and showing miniature horses across North America. After two years of pre-veterinary studies at the University of Alberta, she attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and graduated with Distinction in 2009. She completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at the University of Missouri, and then an equine surgical residency at Oklahoma State University, before starting with Burwash Equine Services in 2014. In 2017, she joined Dr. Kirby Penttila as a partner in the practice. She is a board-certified surgeon as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Areas of equine practice that she enjoys the most include all aspects of surgery and lameness, as well as the variety of general practice. Outside of veterinary medicine she likes to ski and travel, and enjoys reading, swimming, cooking, barre fitness, and spending time with her husband Matt. In summer of 2016, their big adventure was a rim to rim hike of the Grand Canyon. Crystal and Matt are enjoying their first house in Calgary, along with their cat, Echo. After growing up in Edmonton and then spending time in the States, Crystal loves being close enough to the mountains to enjoy skiing at Lake Louise and the summers of exploring the hiking and camping opportunities of the Rockies. She spent the the summer of 2017 training for her first half marathon, which she completed in September.
