Dr. Ben Reed, DVM

Dr. Ben Reed grew up primarily on a hobby farm on rural Vancouver island with a few years also spent in the small towns of Clinton and Cache Creek in the interior of BC. Although he has always loved working with animals, and horses in particular, he has taken a somewhat circuitous route to the veterinary profession. In his adult years, he has worked as a teacher and later managed a horsemanship program, including the oversight of an 80 horse herd, for a YMCA summer camp and outdoor center. He graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Calgary in 2017, before completing a one year internship in equine practice at Burwash Equine Services. He has a strong interest in general equine veterinary practice, and gets a real kick out of helping people get the most out of their relationship with their horses. A father of three young children, Ben does not have a lot of spare time! But when he does, he is an avid horseman and outdoorsman who enjoys spending time in the wilderness with his amazing wife and three kids. He has ridden many mountain miles in Kananaskis and the Yaha Tinda area and enjoys going on overnight packtrips with his two horses whenever he can.
